Thank you, and we hope to see you again next year!
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Bungalow 101 program at the Clarendon Hills Public Library on Tuesday, April 7 has been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience to everyone who had registered for the program. Clarendon Hills Public Library will be contacting those who are signed up. We hope to see you at our other ReDiscover events this month!
Today you can officially register for all of our wonderful ReDiscover: Celebrating Home programs! You can see what’s coming up on our online calendar, and click on an event to register at the hosting library. We also have our events listed by category, and a PDF version of our program guide if you haven’t picked one up at one of our nine participating libraries.
We can’t wait to see you and start exploring the meaning of home together at our amazing events!
After 10 years, we’re saying “So long!” to The Big Read, a one-book reading program for Clarendon Hills, Downers Grove, Hinsdale, Indian Prairie, La Grange, La Grange Park, Lisle, Thomas Ford, and Woodridge communities. Instead of selecting a single book for everyone, we’ll focus on one theme, provide multiple reading suggestions, and plan related programs for all ages.
So join us in saying “Welcome!” to ReDiscover. Modeling itself after theme-centered humanities festivals, ReDiscover: Celebrating Home runs mid-March through April. In addition to programs and movie screenings, several home-inspired stories will be featured at book discussions.
Stay tuned for more updates over the coming months!
Welcome to The Big Read 2014! We’re celebrating 10 years of the Big Read this year, with our selection of The Longest Road by Philip Caputo.
As a cooperative project between nine libraries, the Big Read offers people an opportunity to not only participate in book discussions, but also in our diverse programs that we’ll be offering through March and April. Our programs celebrate elements of the book, allowing for some fun (and informative) experiences! You are encouraged to attend as many programs as you like, and we welcome you to visit all of our terrific libraries!
And —- If this is not your first Big Read, we welcome you back! Just like in years past, you can expect some fantastic programs and lively book discussions. We appreciate all of our Big Read devotees!
Starting today you can stop by any of The Big Read libraries to pick up a copy of this year’s selection, The Shoemaker’s Wife by Adriana Trigiani, and a reading guide that includes all of the great programs we’ve planned to go along with the book.
Registration is now open for all programs, including the author event, A Virtual Visit With Adriana Trigiani which you can register for online (at Indian Prairie or La Grange Public Library) or by calling your home library. To see other events at all of the participating libraries please visit the calendar.
